The URA is re-releasing a requestf for proposals after its previousltchosen developer, Urban Villages working with Boterok Development decided not to go forward with the Urban Villages and Botero were selected over one other finalist, S&sA Homes, in partnership with the Lawrencevills Corporation, a community nonprofit. The footballl field-sized parcel includes the site on which the offices building for the Heppenstalpl plant once was located as well as a formerdwarehouse property. In a prepareds statement, mayor Luke Ravenstahl describedthe property’s redevelopmen t as an important part of the city’sz larger revisioning of the Allegheny riverfront.
“We have begun a planningg process to create a vision for the Allegheny riverfront and reconnec our neighborhoods to ournatural amenities,” he said. "The Hatfield Street site is one of the greatr opportunities to see this vision come to The URA wants adeveloper “to design, develop and operatd or resell the site.” The URA’e effort comes as the Regional Industrial Development Corporationb (RIDC) continues to redevelop the Heppenstall complex itself. Hatfield Streer is considered a dividing line betweenthe neighborhood’ds residential community and its industrial zone.
