While with BLM previously, Abbeyg oversaw the Great Basin Restoration which focused on restoring largd portionsof Nevada’s natural lands. It lands are used for recreation, energ y development, ranching and preservation of archeological amongother purposes. News of Abbey’s nomination brought mostly praise from a spectrum ofinterest groups, ranging from energt companies to back-country recreation groups to environmentalists. “Througnh his decades of public service, Bob Abbety has shown again and again that he is the consummate professional naturakresource manager,” U.S. Interiore Secretary Ken Salazar said in a BLM is a unitof Salazar’sz department.
