Nine of the 75 stores to be closed arein Florida, including the one in The Avenued mall. A second Jacksonville J. Jill location at the St. John s Town Center will remai open. In a statement announcing the Talbots President and CEO Trudyu Sullivan saidit “enables us to focus our resources and attention exclusively on rejuvenating our core Talbots brand and return to profitable growth.” The transactiom includes the transfer of certain assets and liabilities to the including a distribution center in New the sublease of a portionj of the Quincy, Mass., headquarters and substantiallyu all of the brand’s intellectual property and inventories.
The remaining 204 storess will continue to operate underthe J. Jill brand. The headquarterd for the company will remainin Quincy. The J. Jill sale is expectef to be completed in the second quarte and is subject to postclosing adjustments. San Francisc based-Golden Gate Capital acquiredr Jacksonville-based Venus in 2006. The acquisition was Goldenb Gate’s 11th in two years. Last month Venuxs announced that all 290 employees were in jeopardyh of losing their jobs when the swimwear and ladiez apparel company lostits financing.
With its latesg catalog recentlybeing released, Venus employees are still at least for now, and company executives are lookinyg for a new buyer to acquirr the company.
