The Bethesda-based developer's 26-acre officre park in the Shady Grove Life Scienceds Center is currently approvedfor 669,538 squarr feet of density and the campus currentlt contains half of that, or 350,00 square feet. At a May 28 work the Montgomery County Planning Board decided to recommens in its draft Gaithersburg West Mastedr Plan that the property be developed with up to twice as much or contain upto 1.34 millionn square feet of office, retail and residential The southwest corner of the land currentlgy includes a 272,000-square-foot, three-building complex that houses softwarwe and pharmaceutical tenants.
The north side of the property contains the Metropolitan RegionalkInformational Services' 72,000-square-foot headquarters. Last week, the board also recommendex that Danac's Corridor Cities Transitway stop be locatedf at or near itsnortheastern corner, near the intersection of Diamondbac k Drive and Decoverly Drive. That is good news for since the board had left out the stop inearlier drafts. The transitg stop near the corner may be developed whethefr the state retains the current road alignmen t or adoptsthe county's locallu preferred alternative.
The board also picked that locationb because the northeastern corner is consideref to be convenient for pedestrians from the Decoverlyresidential "We have a long way to go, but we are encouragee by the planning board'sz recommendations," said Timothy Dugan, a Danac attorney. Several more work session are scheduled over the nexttwo months, and in July the planningf board will send its drafr master plan to the county executive who will have 60 days to review and comment before it is sent to the county council for deliberations.
