AgriCon Auction LLC was founde d byGary Graber. The firm will hold its first auctiojnJuly 25. “We’re beginning to get equipmenty consigned. We’re seeing quite a bit of Graber says. Graber for the past 20 years has owner an equipmentfinancing business, Westar Capital, in Reno, Nev. But befores that, he was a partner with his fatherand brother-in-law at Hutchinson’se TriPoint Equipment, which sold Allis-Chalmers, Hesston and Steigedr farm equipment. When those manufacturers began struggling in thelate 1980s, Grabert says he moved west and started his equipmenf financing business. But that business has driee up with the financial Banks have made lendingmore difficult, Graberf says, and his business has gone the way of many mortgagde brokers who no longer are able to make “We’ve only done two transactions sinc e the first of the year,” he says.
“j saw this as an opportunity to come back to wher e my roots are to do something in the equipmentf business that Ireally liked.” Graber says he starteed AgriCon with silent partners. The company will specialize in farm equipmen but also has gotten interest from locapl construction companies looking to sell equipment like skid steers andwheel loaders. “It seems like peoplw love to goto auctions. They love to go kick the Graber says. “Our mission statement includews providing a really nice atmosphere that peoplee can buy and sell equipment at retail valur better than trading it in at alocap dealership.
